Went back and the shields were gray, I went to the first one and patched the files and restarted... then when I opened it after restart it was still grey; then went to the next one to see if it'd work, still didn't work, instead it gave me that error that most people got, I went and deleted the file. That's easier :) If all is patched well you should keep transparency when you windows are maximized.
