Microsoft is working on the first service pack for Windows Vista. 
The service pack is still in the beta stadium, but it seems that some of the DLLs that VistaGlazz patches in the RTM will change. When SP1 is released we will support patching it in VistaGlazz.
In the meanwhile, if you want to patch your system manually, you can download patched DLLs at Anti-Tgtsoft.

Browse to UxTheme > Windows Vista > SP1 beta.
Is there supposed to be a version of 6.0.6001.17052_AMD64_XX available for 32-bit versions of the OS - like the others on your downloads page? If so, any way I can assist in getting those DLLs to you?
SP1 is not yet supported. We will support it as soon as it is released.
I see the post was made Dec 3, and the two replies before me are Dec 11 and 12. I just installed SP1 RC1 - I am assuming that the patched DLLs here will work on the RC1?
You might want to look in the repository (link in the post) if it contains a specific SP1 RC version. Otherwise try the last DLL there.
Be sure to create your own backups / system restore point.
Thanks. I looked, but at the time I made my post there was only the AMD version - the next day there were .DLLs for SP1 RC1.
Unfortunately, I still have some reading to do around because I cannot seem to get the system to allow me to replace the files. Strange, but true.

For those having trouble replacing the files…
1. Rename the original files first by adding a .bak to the filename.
2. Now you can copy the patched files to your system.

Will 2008 Server be supported when the SP1 version of vistaglazz is out?.
I hope that, and due to that both vista and 2008 uses the same core (2008 already has SP1 in it) it shouldnt be a problem (i hope).
It’s like with uxtheme in XP and 2003 i think.

Vista SP1 was recently leaked to the public accidentally. Unfortunately the patched dll files available on the site linked to from here do not work. Is anyone aware of any later ones I can try?
I have Vista SP1, and VistaGlazz send my Vista back to stone age, bcoz I have that _basic_ visual style, can’t find any solution. When I try to change VS, I get rundll32 error.
Any solution is welcome

Can’t get the files renamed or overwritten, it keeps saying I don’t have permissions and it won’t let me change permissions either.

OK I copy and replaced the modified .dlls but now what? Now we should run Vistaglazz and (re)patch the system files? Im not sure about that so thats why Im waiting for some (un)official instructions.

Yes, i am at the same point right now, i got my permissions fixed, i put the proper 3 .dll files into the sys32 folder. Now do i install and run the patch files or what do i do next?

I could not replace the 3 files. Kept getting a message saying files were in use by another program. So I can not replace them. I deleted the .dll.vgorg files. Tried to replace them still is not working
Hi, i have seriouse problem with uxtheme.dll - i used vistaglazz beta 2 to patch files, but some programs is crashing with error in modul uxtheme.dll (f.e. PC wizzard or MMC (microsoft management console)). I’m ussing Vista SP1.
After I installed vista glazz, i cant chage my theme back to vista.

I have a very bad problem right now with windows vista.
Yesterday, I downloaded Service Pack 1 for windows vista ultimate x64, i have to mention that i have installed VistaGlazz, that allows to install themes for vista. Ok, so after the sp1 was fully installed, the themes i had installed thanks to vistaglazz didn’t work anymore, so i was like ***? I opened VistaGlazz so i could re-patch the files again, and it said that some files were corrupted or something and that it wasn’t reccomended to patch them, i patched them (big mistake) after patching the 3 dll files that the program is supossed to patch (one of them is uxtheme.dll) the screen just showed many error messages that said that uxtheme.dll was corrupted or damaged and who knows what else it said. Now i can’t boot on vista because of the continous error messages i get when booting, i dont get any BSOD’s but because of this problem, i can’t log into my session. ¿Anyone knows how i a fix this without re-formatting my pc? BTW because I have Ubuntu 7.10 and windows XP on my PC i can replace the dll files that are needed

Ivan, make sure you turn off your computer using the shut down feature in Vista, force it to shut down if you can’t find the shutdown button on the log on screen.
So, when you turn on the computer, keep pressing the F8 Button. Keep pressing it until you come up with boot options for Vista. Eg. Safe mode, etc. Is there an option that says “Repair Your Computer”? If so select it with he arrow keys and press enter. Skip the next paragraph for the next step, if you don’t have the option to Repair your computer, don’t skip the next paragraph.
If you have a Vista Installation Disc or a disk that came with your computer, put that in the CD Drive and restart your computer. It should say Press Anykey to Run the CD/DVD… and press any key. If it doesn’t show up, then you must change some settings in the bios. If you want me to tell you because it isn;t working, tell me again on a comment on this blog.
Now, select your lauguage, and click next. Now at the bottom of the window, there is “Repair your Computer”. Click that.
Now, click on System Restore, it will take about 30 seconds to show thw window. Click Next, select the resotr point before you installed Vista Glazz, click next select your Hardrive with vista installed, click next, and vista will do it’s magic.
Restart your computer, and done.

But, I guess if you don’t feel comfortable, that’s fine.

i patched vista glazz (not beta) on SP1 and it changed my vista into a vista/classic…. do u hav any solutions to change it bak??? i rly need 2 noe..
HELP…..okay….I wanted to get some themes for my Windows Vista laptop so I found out I needed to download VistaGlazz to do so….I followed the directions n clicked the first icon n the directions said press Patch ? (i forgot what word) but mines did not say that instead it said Patch anyways, so I guess there was some kinda problem….I did it…..n clicked the middle icon also n did it. When my computer rebooted my theme was CLASSIC….n I cant go back to Windows Color and Appearance to change it because it keeps saying Windows host process Rundll32 or something isnt working. I tried system restore and it doesn’t work….PLEASE HELP ME!!
