Vista Service Pack 1

Here is a quick reminder, the current release of VistaGlazz is not compatible with Service Pack 1. It’s wise to unpatch your system before installing Service Pack 1. Do not use VistaGlazz (1.0) on a Vista system that has Service Pack 1 installed.

We are working on a version that is Service Pack 1 compatible.

In the meanwhile you can patch your system manually. You can find the files here:

just installed service pack 1 for vista on my 64x Ultimate PC. I knew the Vistaglazz would not work anymore… so Ivo, what’s up? Any luck with developing the new version?

A workaround for this until it is updated is to do this:

Get the SP1 files from: http://www.withinwindows.com/uxtheme-patches/

Search for those files in C:\Windows\System32

Drag the ones from C:\Windows\System32 to another folder to keep as a back up.

Put the files that you downloaded from WithinWindows into C:\Windows\System32.

Restart your Computer & Voila. Happy Skinning :)

I am sad that it does not work for SP1 because it is how Vista’s aero is surpposed to look.

I cannot wait for it to work on SP1.

respect to the man in the ice cream van! :)

Teslanaut, thanks for telling us, but it’s not working for me. Apparently I don’t have “permission” to copy those files into that folder.

    Hi Guys,

Wonderful little utility you’ve written. Custom Visual Styles are great and I can’t go back to standard Aero.

Can you give us a timeline on support for SP1?

    Cheers!

How soon will sp1 be supported, i wanted to feature this program in my youtube video about vista customizations. If you can patch the files manually, then it shouldn’t take long for someone to update vista glazz right?

    Didn’t work for me.
I copied the SP1 files from: http://www.withinwindows.com/uxtheme-patches/ to my System32 folder (no small task to be sure) and upon reboot Windows proudly announced that it was unable to located the file ‘UxTheme.dll’ and then the Desktop Window managger and Explorer were kind enough to close and leave me looking at a black screen. Thankfully I had the forethought to create a Restore Point before beginning the fiasco.

SP1 support is required now… I can not see how this is anything but a simple task of replacing the files in the auto-installer with the files from the above address (see DarkClown’s Post).

    get I.T. done…

Checking in every so often hoping to see the sp1 compatible release. I’d love to go to sp1, but without custom themes, the improvements and fixes aren’t worth it for me.

    Patiently waiting… tia

Damn i wish i had know this before i installed!! ….. 2 late now!! service pack 1 took 3 attempts to successfully install (on the second i had relized it had unpacthed the Uxtheme.dll without doing a successful install!) i now remember how much i hate these corporate colors
