VistaGlazz SP1 beta

Yes! We finally have found the time to work on the Vista SP1 compatible release of VistaGlazz. As it turns out, sleep is highly overrated and coffee is a great alternative for it. You might wonder why the post of and the link to the new release both refer to beta and why the download is not a setup. As it’s now well past midnight (local time), most of the people I know are currently sleeping, including those people normally asked to test our software. I can give you this assurance: It works fine on Vista SP1 64bit.

Please do not feel obliged to download and use this beta as we will probably release a final (fully tested) version including a setup somewhere the next few days.

Also, please save the file to your computer first and then run it. If you try to run in directly (as in: Click on the link and then decide ‘run’) you’ll most likely encounter an error. If you do have any problems or remarks regarding this release, please do not hesitate to post at our forum:

Download VistaGlazz SP1 beta now!

Update 2008/04/08:
We have confirmed that the beta isn’t working properly with 32bit Vista systems. If you are running a 64bit Vista system all should be fine. We are working on the problem and will release a new beta as soon as possible.

Hi, I tried it last night, and it my computer went into some weird fusion of Classic and Aero, and the first time after rebooting, I got a “Pipe state is not valid” (I think) error, so I couldn’t open any executables, such as VistaGlazz to unpatch, or System Restore.

I had to wait for my computer to bluescreen (which it does daily, for different reasons, not to do with VistaGlazz), to be allowed to open apps, so I could restore my system.

    That’s my encounter :)

Oh, once I did open VistaGlazz (before I restored) it said my files had been corrupted :S

Hmm, well I tried this one out on my Vista Ultimate SP1 x64 and I patched the files, which seemed to go fine since it didnt mention any problems, nor did I recieve any errors either (although when I restarted, it restarted twice for some reason…) then I patched my aero theme which went fine as well, since I am using it right now and it’s working perfectly.

BUT, for some reason, and I don’t know why, when I add a msstyle to the “Resources/Themes” folder, and then open up either the “Theme settings” dialog box, or the “Classic Appearence Settings” window, the theme(s) I installed don’t show up in the list. It still only shows the Aero, Vista Basic, Standard and Classic themes (as well as a couple high contrast themes).
Any idea why I can’t get my themes to show up?

I even tried double clicking the msstyle file as well, and although it opens up the classic appearance dialog, it still doesn’t add the theme to the list, nor does it apply either….

Kudos! You’ve made our day! VistaGlazz is now a permanent staple for all the new installs and reinstallations of Windows Vista we perform - in order to rid ourselves of that God-awful black-on-maximize Aero theme “feature.” Thanks for the hard work and dedication!

After reboot the computer froze at Vista welcome screen. Just showing a black screen. Tried going into safe mode and patching from there and rebooted. Seamed to work fine untill i loged in. It started preparing “windows mail..” in a windows classic theme. And then froze again.

    I’m running 32bit sp1 vista..

Thanks, Bernd and the CodeGazer crew. Wth my new C2Q 6700 PC running VIsta SP1 64 bit I was hoping that VistaGlazz would finally be updated for SP1 - sure enough, you delivered, and it patched files and .msstyle without a hitch - I have full glass, even when maximized again, and no errors of any kind.

    Kudos to you all!

Hi! I actually use vistaglazz 1.1 without any problem. The problem you describe happen whit some themas so be carefully whit the theme. When I upgrade to SP1 I didn’t notice that vistaglazz v 1.0 have to uninstall first so I get similar problems, a symbiosis between classic and vista theme. I use vista ultimate SP1 32 bits whit Nvidia graphics (go 6400)in a laptop from sony.

Thanks for the hard work and dedication!
