Good, it is still Saturday. We’ve modified some code and everything seems to work like it should. Beta3 will be able to fix 32bit SP1 systems that have been patched with VistaGlazz 1. VistaGlazz should identify your system as “patchable” (as opposed to “original” for untouched systems). If VistaGlazz identifies your system as corrupt or if you encounter any other problem, please let us know.
We do not have a solution for 64bit SP1 systems that are patched with VistaGlazz 1 yet, since that problem is a little bit more complex.

If your system files are patched correctly with beta 2 you dont have to use beta 3.

We can’t fix your system with VistaGlazz, because you probably can’t start VistaGlazz. Our advice is to replace the DLLs manually:
1. Download the files for your system at
http://www.withinwindows.com/uxtheme-patches/
2. Rename your current uxtheme.dll/themeui.dll/shsvcs.dll to .old (in system32)
3. Copy the patched dlls from the archive to your system32 folder

VistaGlazz should patch the files you downloaded, so if VG says your system is patched, you should be in the clear. If you want to have the glazz part of it all, it should now simply be a matter of clicking the second button (the style patch). I have to admit that we only tested the software on English versions of Vista. If we’re able to get our hands on a French version, we’ll be sure to test VGBeta3 on it.

This beta release works very well with my Vista Business SP1 installation. My only nitpick is when I maximize a window, the caption still turns white. White captions were fine when the title bar was black, but on a semi-transparent background, the caption is very difficult to read. Any chance the software could keep the caption black? Thanks!

What is the difference between vista glazz and uxtheme patch.
1) Do they work exactly same or is there difference.
2) My assumption is that they are same vista glazz is auto installer vs uxtheme you have to mannually install. The end results are same. Is this assumption true.
3) If my #2 assumption is true then why people dont use uxtheme patch and wait for Vista glazz.

Okay, so this has been a huge headache for me recently, just trying to skin my Vista.
So I’ll start out by saying I have a x32 system and I’m not sure if I have SP1 or not. Recently my windows updater has been saying it cannot check for updates, but this could be very unrelated.
I tried doing the manual uxtheme changes but I bet it wasnt the right kind because when I tried to open up a theme, there was no change in my properties box, no more themes or anything.
I installed vistaglazz and it said my files were corrupt, but I hit patch anyway just to see if it would indeed fix anything and, it didn’t. Beta 3 said that message ‘the files are corrupt, this is a bad thing, etc.’ Is there any way for me to just reset my system32 files and then try beta 3 again?

so yeah it was working fine before i upgraded to sp1 and then i tried to “patch anyway” and i tried it a few times and still didn’t work. so i downloaded this and it didn’t help at all…. i opened the vistaglazzbeta3.exe and rebooted and then opened up vistaglazz.exe and it still said that some files were corrupted so i tried to patch style and it said it didn’t work. please tell me how to fix this.

If i click patch anyway it re-loads in defult theme, but i cant run any themes it come up with an rundll. error every time i try to change the theme.
In the end i just restored my system, obviously doing something wrong. Im new to this whole themes thing can someone mail me or post back please.
Also to do the other way im on win ultimate and i cant undo permissions on the files, antivirus is turned off it just refuses me access to the files.

Hello, I run a 32bit system and I downloaded beta3, but I could still not see my themes. So therefore I downloaded version 1.0 and now I cant open “Theme”, just say I have a runddl32 error. Cant open winRAR and shit. I cant patch the beta3 anymore. says I have to go to the website. Give an answer fast, this shit is pissing me off, and I feel like you’re ruining my computer :P.
even after downloading this beta version and running the system patch it still says that one of more of the essential vistaglazz files are corrupt…..which route should i go from here?

wont work in here, tried to unpatch to original and now all my windows are square corners and right on the desktop where is clock, calendar etc is grey thingy, it aint how it used to be, dont find how to make my vista look normal.
forget to tell that i have vista 32bit whit home premium. and they grey thingy i mentioned is a grey bar on the right, just under the clock and stuff. have dual core acer laptop.

Billion is drivin’ me crazy. It’s since the first days of July that, updating vista home premium 32, i’m experiencing troubles with visual styles. After having updated, i had first to unpatch ms styles and system files, second to patch them again to make Vista Glazz work again (never experienced problems with it). But now, with the last windows updates, after unpatching and patching with vista Glazz, windows tells me that’s impossible to apply a different visual style!!! Vista Glazz seems to work. It correctly patchs system files and ms style. According to me, but maybe it’s only a stupid idea, microsoft has introduced a new system file related to visual styles which is, of course, not included between those patched by Vista Glazz. The last thing: i’ve also tried to patch manually but it keeps on tellin’ me that i can’t apply my visual styles. Any help? Many thanks for the great job you do for us and please… forget my english!

I use Vista Home Basic SP1…VistaGlazz beta 3 has patched my system with no problems…Works perfectly…I have glass effect when a window is maximized…Is it possible for VistaGlazz to add glass effect to a window when it is not maximized in Vista Home Basic SP1?
I understand this may not be possible because Microsoft may have locked the required sub-systems to enable glass effect in Vista Home Basic…To force people to purchase the more expensive Home Premium or higher versions of Vista!

You should check the issue with Microsoft Management Console. This is what happened to me, after I patched the files with VistaGlazz I was unable to load Device manager, Windows defender (which is not a big problem cause I am using other antimalware program), services and some other things.

Hi guys. Can you help me pls. I have a Vista Home Premium SP1. I just wanted to change my vista so I downloaded VistaGlazz. But it turned out that it said that some of the VistaGlazz essential system files were corrupt. I was careless so I decided to patch it anyway. When I rebooted my laptop, the Aero style was all gone and what I was left with was Windows Classic. I tried to change it back to Aero using the Personalize>Themes but it just won’t work. Please help me about my problem. I just wanted to have a different theme but I prefer to have Aero than Classic. How do I change back to Aero style? Thanks a lot everyone.
