VistaGlazz SP1 beta2

All right, this one should work a lot better for you guys running 32bit. I tested it on a VirtualPC and this one seems to work just fine on Vista32SP1. We also included a restore for those of you with screwed up systems after running the beta1. Please note that if your system is FrankenGlazzed, beta2 will accuse your system files of being corrupt. While this is true, just click on the “patch anyway” button and reboot.

I installed a Vista32RTM on my VirtualPC, patched it using VistaGlazz 1.0 and then upgraded to SP1. Next I ran beta1 and experienced the whole ‘Vista is in pain, please wait while it keeps flipping styles’ problem. After this, I ran beta2, used “patch anyway” and rebooted, everything was fine after that. I unpatched to get to the SP1 original state and then repatched to ensure patching would work good for the clean SP1 versions. I experienced no problems at all, so I’m pretty sure everything works well.

Again, please do not feel obliged to download and use this beta as we will probably release a final (fully tested) version including a setup somewhere this week. We still need to run a full test to cover all scenarios so we can be sure it works 100%.

VistaGlazz SP1 beta

Yes! We finally have found the time to work on the Vista SP1 compatible release of VistaGlazz. As it turns out, sleep is highly overrated and coffee is a great alternative for it. You might wonder why the post of and the link to the new release both refer to beta and why the download is not a setup. As it’s now well past midnight (local time), most of the people I know are currently sleeping, including those people normally asked to test our software. I can give you this assurance: It works fine on Vista SP1 64bit.

Please do not feel obliged to download and use this beta as we will probably release a final (fully tested) version including a setup somewhere the next few days.

Also, please save the file to your computer first and then run it. If you try to run in directly (as in: Click on the link and then decide ‘run’) you’ll most likely encounter an error. If you do have any problems or remarks regarding this release, please do not hesitate to post at our forum:

Update 2008/04/08:
We have confirmed that the beta isn’t working properly with 32bit Vista systems. If you are running a 64bit Vista system all should be fine. We are working on the problem and will release a new beta as soon as possible.

PixelCryptor 1.1 is coming up…

Last week we started coding the 1.1 release of PixelCryptor.PixelCryptor After some minor discussions on how to plan our software development, we decided to use simple plannings. The next planned release of PixelCryptor is saturday November 10th.

We are still not sure whether we’ll be able to add the “Create a package which can be decrypted without having PixelCryptor installed”-option in the next release, this will depend on the amount of time we will be able to spend within the deadline.

The most important update will be the support of file and folder attributes and the removal of the two second wait at the beginning of a packing process. There will also be some small user experience improvements, which should make it a little bit easier to create packages.

Update 2007-11-09: The new version is ready, we are creating the setup bundle. We expect it to be available on the website within a few weeks. We are migrating to a new installer.
